I’m a big To Do list organizer. I spend most weekends ticking off tasks only to find myself exhausted at the end of the day and irritated that although I accomplished a lot, I didn’t take any time to live in the moment and have some fun. Thanks to my golden retriever Max, my attitude toward all work and no play has changed. One day while I was working in the yard and already upset that I had missed the benefits of a gorgeous fall day, I noticed my abundantly playful buddy running circles around me and rolling in the piles of leaves I had just raked. Rather than get mad and send him in the house, I threw down the rake and began rolling in the leaves with Max. That simple, child-like act completely changed my mood and outlook on the day. Not only did I not finish my To Do list that weekend, I added “walk Max, wrestle with Max and take time to scratch behind his ears.” Come Monday morning, I had a positive outlook and looked forward to the week. These guys know what they’re doing!
